Glenn T. Okawa began his law practice in 1976 and a graduate of Lewis and Clark School of Law. James Hamers began his law practice in 1979 and a graduate of Willamette University School of Law. In 1986 they formed their partnership and limited their focus to estate planning.
Jim and Glenn work with clients who are just beginning to raise a family and build their wealth as well as those who have accumulated great wealth and wish to transfer that wealth to members of their family or to their community in a tax efficient manner. The legal structure that makes that happen can be as simple as a Will, power of attorney, advance directive and HIPAA release or can include trusts to avoid probate or minimize taxes.
After 39 years, on June 30, 2018, Jim retired from the practice of law. His files are being handled by his friend and partner, Glenn Okawa, and by David Bearman who has been sharing the office with Jim and Glenn since he was admitted to the Oregon State Bar in 2018.
Glenn’s primary role is the administration of estates when a client no longer has capacity or has died. His work includes assisting clients with the courtroom alternatives of powers of attorney, advance directives and living trusts. For those who don’t have these alternatives in place ahead of time, he assists those who need help in conservatorships, guardianships and probate.
